The Dirty Gardener Saponaria Officinalis Bouncing Bet Soapwort Flowers
Bouncing Bet plant, Saponaria officinalis, also known as Soapwort. Bouncing Bet is a sun loving perennial that has a striking display of white to pink flowers from mid-summer through early fall. The plant prefers to grow in full sun and can tolerate some very poor soils. Soapwort is a native to southern Europe; a standby in English gardens. Upright plant with lance-shaped leaves and pretty white/pink flowers. The root is loaded with saponins which can be used as a soap substitute. Grows 24-36" tall and 12-18" spread, in full sun or part shade. Perennial in zones 3-9.
