Tidy tips are found throughout California's low-elevation dry habitats, from the coast to the low foothills and desert edges, and into Nevada, Utah and Arizona. In pre-European times this plant was common in solid stands at lower elevations. Found in grassy valley floors, slopes of hills, openings in coastal sage scrub and chaparral, coastal plains, and in the high desert. A member of spring wildflower 'displays,' blooming March to June. Tidy tips like to be planted in well-drained soil. Doesn't like extreme heat or humidity but is very drought tolerant once established. The flowers are yellow with white tips. Makes a good cut flower or beautiful border. Seeds are packaged and germination tested for current year. Blooms March - June. Height 12 - 14 inches. Sowing depth 1/16 inch. Germination 1 - 4 weeks.
